As military veterans we are used to plans, processes, procedures, standards, training, estimates, assessments, and myriad other means and mechanisms that mitigate confusion and provide predictability.
Given the high risk, fluid situations we are likely to operate in, this makes total sense!
When in uniform, “Where are you going?” and “What’s next?” were pretty easy to answer; after all, some assignments branch team made the “Where are you going?” decisions for you…and well-established processes made “next steps” quite predictable.
Then comes career transition. A whole new leg of you life journey. Chock full of unknowns and uncertainty. Alone but for the network you build.
Seemingly simple questions take on a whole new level of meaning, challenge and impact.
The good news is that there are great people and resources like Veteran Career Journey to help you.
Connect early. Learn from those that have gone before you and those who are where you want to be. Grow your awareness and understanding of what lies ahead and how to get from here to there, so you have the ability to answer the questions and build a successful future.
